POTC RG Awards – Call for Nominations

​

The POTC RG is pleased to announce the following awards. Nominations for all awards except the Graduate Student Presentation Award are due by December 31. Award winners will be announced during the closing session of the annual conference.

​

For book eligibility, the book must have been published within the calendar year of nomination, from January 1 to December 31. Articles must have been published in a journal or appear as “online first” on the journal’s website during the same calendar year as book eligibility.

The Graduate Student Presentation Award ($300) is awarded at the annual conference. To apply, indicate your interest at the end of your abstract when to submit to the annual conference. The recipient must be present at the closing session to receive the award.

Impact Article Award: nominations should include the name and email address of the nominee, along with a PDF of the article.

Impact Book Award: nominations should include the name and email address of the nominee, along with a PDF of the book. Physical copies (3) may also be submitted; email potcrg@gmail.com for shipping instructions.

The Michael Menser Award in Transdisciplinary Research: The POTC RG's highest award. It recognizes individuals whose research and real-world engagement directly impact or focus on cities. Eligible contributions may include multiple presentations, books, edited collections, papers, or other forms of practical engagement. The award honors a significant combination of scholarly and real-world work aligned with this mission. Nomination letters should explain how the nominee meets or exceeds these criteria.

Lifetime Achievement Award: This award recognizes individuals who have made over twenty years of significant contributions in research, teaching, or service related to the philosophy of the city.

Recent award winners:

Transdisciplinary Award for Research in Philosophy, awarded to Michael Menser (this award has been discontinued and is now called The Michael Menser Award in Transdisciplinary Research).

​

Graduate Student Presentation Award, awarded to Savannah Stevens for “Morality and Sidewalk Safety: Pedestrians as Marginalized Populations.”
